The purpose of this course is to equip the learner with the ability to plan, implement and maintain a SHE management system.
COURSE DURATION: 10 days
PREREQUISITES: Introduction to SAMTRAC® & Applying SHE Principles & Procedures
COURSE OUTLINE:

Describe risk management as a process and discuss different risk control measures

Evaluate different incident prevention theories

Motivate the use of SHE management system to prevent incidents in the workplace

Advise on different legislative requirements with regard to safety, health and the environment
-
Determine when compensation is payable and calculate the amount of compensation payable to employees
-
Evaluate the management of different technical aspects as part of the SHE management system

Identify and explain the relevant information regarding occupational health (medicine and hygiene)

Initiate and execute surveys

Assist management with the implementation and maintenance of an effective occupational health, safety and environment programme

Identify relevant environmental Acts, regulations and guidelines

Describe the impact of industrial operations on the environment

Write risk-based standards for a SHE management system

Advise on implementation and measurement of standards

Advise on co-ordinating the SHE management to achieve continuous improvement

Describe how the effectiveness of the system can be evaluated
