NOSA Secunda hosts athletes at the annual Kosmos 3 in 1 race

NOSA Secunda participated in the annual Kosmos 3 in 1 event as they do every year. This year, the day attracted 2900 athletes. Athletes could choose between the 10km, 21.1km or the 42.2km races. For the more daring, there is always the option of competing in all three races.

All athletes passing the NOSA hospitality stand on the ‘Golden Mile’ received a gift and much-needed cheering on. NOSA Secunda staff, friends and family provided a welcoming atmosphere and made sure that all enjoyed the long, hot day together.

The most popular race was the 10km, which attracted 1071 athletes. Kipkoeck Chirchin won the men’s division with a time of only 32:20 minutes and Gladdys Lukhwareni showed her strength by winning the woman’s race in 43:08 minutes. The 21.1km was won by Doctor Mtweni in a record time of 1:06:46 minutes, while Gladdys was hot on his trail by winning the woman’s race in only 1:24:52 minutes. Joshua Thukwane and Precious Thabalala showed their endurance by winning their races with a time of 2:23:34 and 3:12:13 respectively. At 3 o’clock there was a 2km fun run which attracted young and old. Radisengwane Maleka won the men’s 3 in 1 event by finishing his three races in 4:37:30, while Shelly van der Spuy won the woman’s 3 in 1 event with a time of 5:38:55. Well done to all - achievements to be proud of!
